Shops are stocking the usual Christmas novelty items and artificial grottos have started to crop up in shopping centres. Even the Coca Cola ad is back. Yes, Christmas is on its way. And to get you in the Christmas mood, it's the switch-on of the Christmas lights on Portobello Road today at 5pm.
The event will be held at Portobello Square, W11 1AN, where George Clarke, local resident and television presenter of Channel 4's
The Home Show, will be on hand to press the button to light up Portobello at 5pm.
The festivities will include free hot refreshments and Christmas songs from 4- 5pm. Rachel Johnson will be MC'ing the speeches including Mark Barr, chairman of the Portobello & Golborne Management Committee.
Portobello Road will be closed as a result of the celebrations and will reopen to traffic at 6pm.
For those keeping count, there are only 35 days until Christmas which gives you plenty of time to shop around the Sunday Christmas Street Markets - which runs every Sunday until 18 December, located between Cambridge Gardens and Lancaster Road - to search for that perfect gift.
Or just make sure you keep the receipt; it's the the thought that counts, right?
