Notting Hill Carnival

Today the annual Notting Hill Carnival rolls into London bringing in its famous colour, culture and Caribbean flavours onto the Notting Hill streets as well as millions of people flocking to see this world-famous festival. Even though it finishes tomorrow, there will still be future carnivals to look forward to.

A nine strong advisory board has been appointed to take the London Notting Hill Carnival Limited (LNHC) to 2012. With the aid of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, the LNHC will have oppurtunities to gain sponsorship deals that will coincide with the Olympics.

Furthermore, the LNHC will be debt-free thanks to the support of the Council and two of the LNHC's interim directors.

The future looks colourful for the Notting Hill Carnival. Lets just hope it doesn't rain on the parade! Have a safe and enjoyable carnival and if you're visiting use the Notting Hill map to plan your trip.

The Notting Hill Carnival will run from Sunday 29th August - Monday 30th August and will start 9AM on both days.

Youths Win RBKC Dragons' Den

Congratulations to Hamza Chentouf, 23, and Tarrell McIntosh, 16, who held their nerves and won Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea's (RBKC) very own Dragons' Den.

Hamza Chentouf, left, and Tarrel McIntosh; upcoming entrepreneurs.

A panel of 5 Dragons, including Pauline Buckley, head of HR from Cath Kidston and Nicholas Kasic from Portobello and Golborne Road Markets, grilled 10 contestants and concluded that Hamza and Tarrel's projects and ideas were ahead of the pack.

Hamza's idea is an underground clothing line which specialises in modern and funky designs, while Tarrel's idea is to produce one off garments and small lines for men and women for a demi-couture fashion company.

Their prize was a business start-up package that will be given to them by the RBKC's Education Business Partnership and Connexions and a trading pitch on the Portobello Road, Notting Hill Gate.
